Recognizing the best in Northwest journalism, contest goes online
Welcome to the SPJ Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest. We’ve made a lot of changes to the Region 10 SPJ contest this year. The big news is that you can now enter the contest online, making it easier and faster than ever to compete. No more cutting up tear sheets or cutting and pasting archived magazines or newspapers and no more costly mailings!
Also, the contest has been expanded to include magazines throughout Region 10, which covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.
In addition, we have expanded the contest to include all non-daily newspapers in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. (NOTE: Non-dailies in the Oregon-Southwestern Washington chapter of SPJ will continue to compete in that chapter’s local contest for non-daily publications and are not eligible to enter the Region 10 contest).
We’ve also introduced many new categories for journalism on the Web, including categories for video and slideshow work.
Although most material now may be submitted online, some entries still will need to be mailed in. This includes all General Excellence submissions as well as radio and television entries that cannot be submitted as a link to a Web site.
DEADLINE
The deadline for entries is the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. All entries must be submitted online (or postmarked if mailed) by the end of that day.
ENTRY FEES & PAYMENT
