Thanks for joining us at this year’s SPJ awards

Thanks to everyone who joined us last Friday at Neighbours Nightclub and Lounge to celebrate the winners of the 2023 NW Excellence in Journalism Awards.

We’d like to thank Neighbours for once again hosting our event; Jonathan Mathews with Kwanchai Events for catering; and Jessica Albano from the University of Washington and Shawn Schollmeyer from the Washington State Library for sharing their work on preserving journalism.

Thank you, too, to all the journalists who attended and picked up certificates and trophies for their newsrooms. We still have lots of awards to mail out to winning journalists and newsrooms. If you’re awaiting an award, please email spjwash@gmail.com with your mailing information. We plan to send awards out this month.

If you’re unsure whether you won an award this year, please consult this list. First place winners earned trophies; second place winners earned certificates. Also note that SPJ-Oregon is responsible for all award winners listed in Oregon state, and for winners at The Columbian newsroom. All other winners on this list are in our group, and should have received an email from us several weeks ago. Reach out to us over email if you’re not sure which group you or your newsroom falls under.

As always, you can reach us at spjwash@gmail.com with any questions.
