This could be you! KING 5’s Chris Daniels and Evonne Benedict pose with their trophies for photographer Joshua Bessex at our 2013 SPJ Awards Gala.

You’ve got just under three weeks a month to enter this year’s Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest, and don’t miss out. Your best work deserves it!

Who is eligible?

Anyone who has published work in 2013 in news sources based in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. That includes any and all digital content, plus work produced in print, on TV and for radio. Whether it’s an article, a photo, a video, an interactive graphic or an audio story, you can submit it!

Is it tough to enter?

We hope not. Our online system makes it pretty straightforward. Sign in, pick your categories, drop the links to your work and you’re pretty much done.

What does an entry cost?

It’s $20 for SPJ members and $25 for non-members all but the big kahuna General Excellence category. (And this contest has A LOT of categories.)

When is the deadline?

Feb. 19 Feb. 26 but DON’T WAIT! Entering doesn’t take long and hey – going through your best work of 2013 ought to feel good, right?

Where can I learn more?

It’s all here on the contest site. Browse away.

What do I get if I win?

Eternal glory, recognition from your fellow regional journalists at the one and only SPJ Awards Gala (look how much fun we had last year!) and a pretty fantastic trophy to put on your mantle or newsroom wall from now until forever.

Good luck to everyone! Any questions, email Pia Hallenberg, our region 10 director, at piah@spokesman.com. And stay tuned for more news from our chapter. A new Continuing Ed Series, nominations for our prestigious Gala awards and word on the awards gala cometh…
