If you haven’t entered your best work from 2015 into the SPJ Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest yet, you’ve still got some time. The deadline is Feb.15, so don’t wait until the last minute — get your entries in now!

This is our annual competition that covers Region 10, which includes Washington state, Oregon, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. All proceeds from this contest support the efforts of Region 10 and its active chapters to protect First Amendment freedoms, foster excellence among journalists, inspire young journalists, encourage diversity in our industry, and promote the free practice of journalism in our communities.

We’re also looking for passionate journalists to judge entries from other SPJ chapters around the country. We call these chapters our swap partners, as their volunteer judges read and judge our regional awards entries. Working journalists and former journalists are welcome to volunteer. If you want to serve as a volunteer judge, fill out and submit this form.
