LA Times makes an online ad revenue model work

Last Friday was a big day in the Seattle news world, with the announcement that Hearst is putting the beloved Seattle P-I up for sale. If it doesn’t sell after 60 days, Hearst said it will either create an online-only model or close the veteran newspaper forever. Of course, we’d all love to see a buyer swoop down from the heavens to save the P-I, but if that can’t happen, perhaps an online-only version is a viable alternative.

In the wake of this news, Michelle Nicolosi from the P-I posted a link to this story on Facebook:  How the LA Times is Making Online Ad Revenue Work.

If you are depressed about the state of the journalism industry, you might enjoy this article. It provides hope that, while our current business models are dying out, our need for journalism is not.
