15 Apr Save the Date: SPJ Awards Banquet Saturday May 21 at Safeco Field!

The Western Washington Pro Chapter of SPJ is happy to announce that it will host its annual awards banquet at the Diamond Club inside Safeco Field. Please mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, May 21.

This is a new venue for the chapter’s annual awards banquet. But it will still have all the things you love: Recognition for our Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest winners, a silent auction to benefit student scholarships, food, drinks, plenty of time to socialize, an entertaining program and a lot of fun. Did we mention there will be a bar?

This year’s banquet will be a little less formal, will feature a generous buffet instead of a sit-down dinner and be more family friendly and focused on socializing with your colleagues. The Mariners will be on the road so we will have the whole place to ourselves!

The Diamond Club, situated below the stands directly behind home plate, is a great place for you to eat, drink and talk before the awards ceremony. After food and drinks we will take the party outside (bring a sweater) where you can sit behind home plate and watch the awards program that will feature the names of every winner on the big board above center field. Bring your cameras!

Tickets will go on sale soon on Brown Paper Tickets, and there will be early bird pricing as well as slightly higher late-registration rates.
