SPJ Continuing Ed series schedule announced

Become a smarter journalist!  Attend SPJ’s 5th annual Continuing Ed series

The Western Washington Pro Chapter is again offering its popular Fall Continuing Ed Series. The five-week series will run on Monday nights from 10/11 – 11/8, featuring a different skills-based workshop or topic each week.  All of the classes are from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Seattle Times auditorium

Oct. 11 The Portable Journalist: Using smart phones for reporting

The smart phone in your pocket is now your most important mobile reporting tool. Learn about how video stream direct to the web from your phone, maximizing twitter while live streaming, the best iPhone apps for journalism, mapping iPhone photos via rss and other practical advice.

Oct. 18 Branding yourself: Tips on how to stand out in today’s changing media landscape

Cost:  Free to SPJ Members, $10 per class for non SPJ members or $40 for the whole series.

You may register to become an SPJ member at any class to receive the class free. Annual membership is $72. https://www.spj.org/joinapp.asp Become a member by enrolling online now, or sign up at any class.  Pizza and bottled water will be provided.

The Seattle Times is located at 1120 John St., Seattle, WA  98109. Free parking is available in the visitor’s lot across the street.
