20 Feb We’re on the hunt for an intern
The Western Washington Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists seeks an intern to join its team. This intern will have the opportunity to cover journalism in Western Washington at spjwash.org. The successful candidate’s responsibilities may also include editing posts and writing one sheets, flyers and other organizational documents.
The successful candidate for this internship must be detail-oriented, responsible, passionate, curious and knowledgeable about Western Washington. The ability to meet deadlines is requisite. Strong writing and editing skills are essential. A student with coursework in journalism, English or communications will be the best fit for this position.
Most of your work can be accomplished off-site, with the required attendance of our monthly board meetings and occasional events. The internship will begin this spring and run to the beginning of summer, possibly longer.
We offer the opportunity to hone your writing and reporting skills under the guidance of seasoned local journalists. Other perks include a flexible schedule, a ticket to our annual awards banquet, professional development and networking, plus a free membership to the Society of Professional Journalists. The winning candidate will have the chance to work closely with professional journalists.
Please send a cover letter, resume and 2-3 clips demonstrating your writing abilities to Vice President Ethan Chung by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
